MULTIX.  New Topologies and New Transformer Structures for High-Power, High-Output-Voltage Power Supplies
PROJECT INFORMATION
Funding Entity: Spanish Ministry of Education and Science
      Partners: Universidad de Oviedo
      Contract Period: 01/10/2006 - 30/09/2009
      Total Budget: 79,618€
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
      Equipment: AC/DC Converter
Output Voltage: 50 kV to 150 kV
      Output Current: 0.5 A (max.)
MAIN FEATURES

The project deals with new solutions for high-voltage (more than 50kV), high-power (from 10kW to 150kW) DC power supplies.

Different structures of inverters were studied to minimize component count and power losses. In the end, a multilevel topology was proposed, modelled and experimentally evaluated.

The materials and the structure of the step up transformer were also considered. A method to calculate the transformer parasitics was tested and validated.

A Ph.D Thesis was developr based on this project: “Solutions for Fluoroscopy” by Óscar Pardo Vaquero.
