Miguel Ángel José Prieto finishes his studies of Industrial Enineering in Universidad de Oviedo in March 1994. In 1995 he is given a Research Grant to join the Área de Tecnología Electrónica, which is a part of the Electrical Engineering Department (DIEECS) of Universidad de Oviedo. In November 1996 he becomes an Assistant Professor in the above mentioned University. From the very day he joined the Área de Tecnología Electrónica, he has been involved in several research activities dealing with Power Electrónics, especially focusing on the design of magnetic components meant to be included in electronic power converters. This led him to present his Ph. D. Thesis in July 2006, the title of which was "Elementos Magnéticos Integrados para Aplicación en Convertidores Electrónicos de Alta Densidad de Potencia (*)". This work was directed by Dr. Juan Manuel Lopera Ronda and deserved a qualification of apto cum laude. In July 2002 he gains a post of Associate Professor in the Área de Tecnología Electrónica of Universidad de Oviedo. During the exam he had to go through he had to present a lecture, the subject chosen being Regulated Linear Power Supplies: "Fuentes de Alimentación Lineales Reguladas (*)". Since then, he has carried out research in different areas, although always related somehow to Power Electronics. Thus, he has worked on issues dealing with magnetic components (design and characterization of high-frequency inductors and transformers, functional and structural integration of magnetic components, magnetic sensors used in the control of industrial processes), but also on others related to piezoelectric transformers included in electronic power converters, embedded systems for industrial applications, etc. His research activity has given place to several papers published in specialized magazines and conferences, both national and international. He appears as one of the inventors in three national and one international patents. He is currently a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and carries out peer reviews for different IEEE magazines and conferences. (*) Only available in Spanish |
