Presentation of SmartMILE 2013

The International Conference  SmartMILE 2013 ( New Concepts in Smart Cities: Fostering Public and Private Alliances ) was created as a joint initiative of the CTIC Foundation and the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijon (EPI-GIJON) both two institutions from the known as the "Mile of Knowledge" of the city of Gijon.

The Conference will allow participants to gain international recognition through the sponsorship of the prestigious international institution IEEE - Industry Applications Society (Technical Co-Sponsor), which will allow the indexing of the papers presented (IEEEXplore) and will offer a global projection of the meeting organized.

An international Scientific Committee has been established, which counts with prestigious presence from academia and the business world, without losing the scientific-technological character of the Conference.

It starts up with the idea of continuing to foster collaboration between business and universities in the context of research and development of new products and concepts for sustainable and citizen-oriented cities (Smart Cities).

The conference implies a multidisciplinary context although it makes special emphasis on urban energy production and use, urban transport and mobility and urban information and communications technology.

The conference aims at providing a collaboration framework between the university and the companies, to provide high quality research and encourage professional interactions, seeking the advance of science, technology and new products.

Companies, universities, R&D groups and also students are encouraged to submit papers with new research, products or concepts. All of them are invited to participate in all activities: Special sessions with relevant guests from academia, professional sessions with oral presentations (Oral Session), poster sessions (Poster Session), exhibition of products, sponsors services and social events.

Topics of interest include:

The proposed thematic fit in perfectly with the EU current (FP7) and EU futures R&D lines (HORIZON 2020) and also with strategies for job creation in the European context (EUROPE: Green Energy Jobs-Starting a New Era).

From the CTIC Foundation and EPI-GIJON, we encourage you to participate in the conference.
