COMPLEMENTARY CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

As a complement to the academic activity, the course offers a program of cultural and recreational activities in which students actively participate under the supervision and guidance of the lecturers. The aim is twofold: for students to directly gain an in-depth knowledge outside the classroom of different aspects of Spanish and Asturian culture; to serve as "tasks" (linguistic projects and activities) that enable the practice of the knowledge acquired in the Spanish language and culture through teacher-controlled activities.
At present all students can participate in the following activities: conferences and presentations, field-trips, a Spanish film cycle, workshops (on journalism, theater, dance, cartoonism...), joining a University sport club, attending sport games, etc.

		By means of the Mentor Service foreign students can take advantage of the help of a Spanish student from their same campus to settle into university life. The host student will give advice on accommodation, campus life and other practical matters. Foreign students can also participate in the Tandem Programme which consists in exchanging conversation classes with a Spanish student. Other activities included in the Course programme are a welcome party, literary competitions and video projections.
