  SPANISH BEGINNERS´ COURSE 

Course aimed at students with no previous knowledge of the Spanish language who cannot be suitably incorporated in the Language and Culture Courses. The aim is for students at the end of this course to have mastered the general rules and most common words so as to understand and make themselves understood in the most common communication situations.

  SPANISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE PROGRAM 

The courses have been programmed in different periods of length. They combine the teaching of the language, which is the main aim, with a broad insight into Spanish culture. Such courses are perfectly valid for students who are specialising in these questions, but are also appropriate for students not devoted specifically to the study of Spanish.

2009/2010 Year-long Language and Culture Program

  • Students may follow both the three-month and then the five-month program.
  • From October 5, 2009 to May 21, 2010.
  • 45 credits (450 hours)
  • Although some of the subjects offered on both terms keep the same name (such as "Grammar", "Art", "Translation"...) their Spring Term syllabus differs from that of the Fall Term even at the same level (Intermediate/Advanced).

  SPANISH INTENSIVE COURSES FOR UNIVERSITY EXCHANGE STUDENTS 

The University of Oviedo takes part in many university exchange programs (Socrates, Erasmus, Tempus, Cooperation Agreements, etc.) and offers these students back-up courses to aid their integration in the different host Faculties or Schools. Our aim is to make these students aware of the culture and social behavior in which they will have to integrate during their stay in Asturias.

Final diplomas
 Classes are taught in Oviedo (at "El Milán" and "El Cristo" Campus) and in Gijón ("Cátedra Jovellanos", Calle Begoña).
 The students on these programmes can enrol in Spanish Beginners´ Course at any subjects they wish on the Spanish Language and Culture Courses for Foreigners paying a special reduced fee.

 Program aimed at international exchange students (Socrates/Erasmus) or any other interested in this subject.
4 credits (40 hours)
 Two weekly sessions of 90 minutes.
 Students can attend a maximum of 4 subjects to be taught 3 hours per week, to be chosen from among the following:
    German-Spanish translation
    English-Spanish translation
    French-Spanish translation
    Italian-Spanish translation
    Portuguese-Spanish translation
 Classes are taught in Oviedo (at "El Milán" Campus).
For translation subjects it is advisable to have at least an upper-intermediate (B2) or advanced level (C1) of Spanish.
 A minimum of 8 students is required to launch the course.

During the registration period set by the International Relations Office for the registration of foreign students.
Registration Centre: in Oviedo, Oficina de Relaciones Internacionales; in Gijón, the Delegations of the International Office at every campus.

Only those students who have gained an advanced level in the placement test will be allowed to register in the Translation subjects.

These Intensive Courses are entirely financed by the University of Oviedo. Students only have to pay an amount for exam fees, issue of certificate and diploma (€60 per subject). The participants of annual residence who want to attend the Spring Intensive Course in addition to it have to pay also a €180 fee.

  DELE Exam Preparatory Course  

The University of Oviedo is an Official Examination Center for the Diplomas in Spanish as a Foreign Language called DELE (“Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera”) issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Cervantes Institute.

Examinations will take place in May and November, in accordance with the call dates set by the Instituto Cervantes.

As a complement, the University of Oviedo offers a twenty-hour preparatory course (two hours a day) for the Intermediate (B2) and Mastery (C2) levels, to be held at the Milán Campus according to the following characteristics:

  • Dates: two or three weeks ahead of the scheduled date for examination.
