CV SUMMARY
All my
curriculum is developed around two axes, namely purely methodological research,
within the area of Methodology of Behavioral Sciences, and methodological
contributions in applied research in various substantive areas of the Social
and Health Sciences.
The lines
of investigation of strictly methodological character have developed under the protection
of 13 projects of investigation granted to our research team during the last 30
years, 6 of them belonging to the National Plan I + D + I (each of them in a
period of 3 years, except one of 4 years), and 7 granted by the University of
Oviedo (each of them in a period of 1 year). In the last 10 years I have
participated in 3 Research Projects I + D + I, and I have been IP of the last
two.
In a
general way, I have worked on the following topics:
-
Univariate and multivariate repeated measures designs with autocorrelated
errors.
- Robusts
procedures to analyze repeated measures designs in different adverse
situations, that is, absence of sphericity, normality and homogeneity, covered
both the General Linear Model and the Mixed Linear Model.
- Robusts
procedures for randomized designs with uncorrelated groups in absence of
normality and homogeneity.
-
Hierarchical designs and Multilevel Models both marginal and
conditional.
- Loss of
sample size (missing and dropout) and simulation study using imputation of data
procedures and parameter estimation.
-
Experimental and quasi-experimental designs.
- Analysis
of the quality of research.
In a more particular way, the research I have
carried out in the methodological field covers three main aspects. One involves
simulation research to study the behavior of data analysis procedures under
adverse conditions. Another has been and is, dedicated to the development of
the method, with very relevant contributions, to mention only three of them, to
the development of robust procedures in the face of the heterogeneity of the
variances in transversal and longitudinal, univariate and multivariate designs,
to the development of procedures for the calculation of the sample size under
adverse conditions loss of data, and in the development of the procedure of
multiple imputation in multivariate conditions when, in addition to the loss of
data, one works with heterogeneity of the variances . And a third way is
dedicated to the care of the method to guarantee excellence in research and the
quality of inferences. In all these investigations, results of enormous utility
have been obtained for applied researchers.
In the last 10 years, since 2012 included, I have
participated in 15 (14 in WoS) purely methodological
investigations, all of them have been published in national and
international scientific journals of extraordinary quality with an impact
factor in JCR (WoS), 9 of them in Q1, 4 in Q2 and 1 in Q3
The contributions of methodological nature in applied
research, primarily in the area of Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology and
Educational Psychology have been of relevant importance.
In these investigations I have dealt with, and I'm
responsible, for all aspects related to the planning of of them since its
origin (research design and careful data collection), and the statistical
analysis of the data.
In the last 10 years, since 2012 included, I have participated
in 18 publications (17 in WoS) of purely substantive research, some of them
related to basic research, most of them applied research. All of them, except
one, have been published in national and international scientific journals of
extraordinary quality with an impact factor in JCR (WoS), 6 of them in Q1, 8 in
Q2, 1 in Q3 and 2 in Q4.
Both methodological research and applied research have
been exposed at numerous national as international congresses. Only in the last
10 years have I made 74 contributions to congresses.
I have co-directed 4 Doctoral Theses, all of them
with a grade of Outstanding Cum Laude, and a fifth thesis is nearing
completion. I have carried out the external evaluation of a doctoral thesis
defended outside of Spain, and I have carried out the review of 35 scientific
articles for journals indexed in JCR (WoS) and SCOPUS.
In 2020 I obtained the fourth six-year period of
research “sexenio”, and I reached an H index of 13
In the same way, both methodological and substantive investigations
have been published in national and international journals of extraordinary
quality, some of which are highlighted in the following point.
