Paloma Herrera-Racionero has a PhD from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and is a professor of Sociology and Environment and Society at the same university. She is currently a member of the Research Group on Sociology of Food in Spain and the Research Institute for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (IGIC), research teams in the fields of the Sociology of Food, Rural Sociology, and Sociology of the Environment. Author of the book Del comer al nutrir. La ignorancia ilustrada del comensal moderno (From eating to nutrition: the enlightened ignorance of the modern diner; Madrid, Plaza y Valdés, 2010), she has published several articles and book chapters focusing on the analysis of food behaviour and its transformations from a social perspective, the perceptions of and attitudes towards transgenic foods, and the situation of irrigated agriculture and rural development.
