calicivirus

We are actually interested in studying various molecular aspects of viruses: caliciviruses (both human an animal), human herpes viruses, human coronaviruses and myxoma virus. We have investigated as well animal parasites (Fasciola hepatica; Hypoderma lineatum) from a molecular point of view.

Our aim  is to identify  pathogen components which could be useful for the design of new and improved diagnostics, vaccines or antiviral screening methods. We also intend the functional and structural characterisation of some virus or parasite key proteins which could be the basis for a better understanding of the pathogen/host interplay and the starting point for a rational design  of new, more especific and cost-efective antiviral or antiparasite treatments.
