Many of the birds that we observe in our skies are at risk of disappearing due to human action. In order to protect them, it is essential to study and know them. Juan Carlos Illera, professor at the University of Oviedo, has participated in a European macro-study that has obtained the largest genetic database obtained to date. The research addresses the colonization, diversification and extinction of island birds in the world.
