Se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n redox en los procesos de diferenciaci\u00f3n y muerte celular.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Los niveles fisiol\u00f3gicos de especies reactivas de ox\u00edgeno o nitr\u00f3geno forman parte de un complejo sistema de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n intracelular b\u00e1sico que, a trav\u00e9s de la modificaci\u00f3n de residuos de ciste\u00edna de numerosas prote\u00ednas, forma parte de un complejo sistema de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n que regula la actividad entre otras de quinasas, proteasas y factores de transcripci\u00f3n, las cuales controlan los mecanismos celulares m\u00e1s b\u00e1sicos.<\/p>\n<p>Los objetivos concretos de esta l\u00ednea son:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">1.1 Determinar la participaci\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas implicadas en la homeostasis redox en los mecanismos de supervivencia celular<br \/>\n1.2 Evaluar los mecanismos de diferenciaci\u00f3n neuroendocrina como una estrategia de respuesta al estr\u00e9s que hace a las c\u00e9lulas tumorales resistentes a la terapia.<br \/>\n1.3 Identificar el papel del H2O2 como se\u00f1alizador celular en los mecanismos de diferenciaci\u00f3n celular de las c\u00e9lulas madre de la serie espermatog\u00e9nica y su participaci\u00f3n en los problemas asociados a la fertilidad.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p><b>2. Control redox de la progresi\u00f3n tumoral<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Las alteraciones metab\u00f3licas de las c\u00e9lulas tumorales, la infiltraci\u00f3n de los tumores por c\u00e9lulas inflamatorias o los tratamientos oncol\u00f3gicos contribuyen a elevar los niveles de estr\u00e9s oxidativo. Los efectos t\u00f3xicos del estr\u00e9s oxidativo sobre las c\u00e9lulas normales pueden ser evitados por la elevaci\u00f3n de los mecanismos de defensa antioxidante. Sin embargo, dicha elevaci\u00f3n en la c\u00e9lula tumoral favorece los mecanismos de progresi\u00f3n e invasi\u00f3n tumoral e impide la muerte celular. Participaci\u00f3n de los osciladores redox circadianos en los procesos patol\u00f3gicos<\/b><br \/>\nSe ha definido el trabajo nocturno como un posible carcin\u00f3geno. Nuestro grupo de investigaci\u00f3n lleva m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os trabajando en las propiedades biol\u00f3gicas del neuroindol pineal melatonina, que adem\u00e1s de ser mediador de los ciclos luz-oscuridad, es un potente antioxidante end\u00f3geno. Nuestros objetivos espec\u00edficos en esta l\u00ednea ser\u00e1n:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">3.1 Demostrar importancia de la melatonina a lo largo de la evoluci\u00f3n como modulador de los mecanismos b\u00e1sicos de supervivencia celular.<br \/>\n3.2 Investigar si existe un control redox de la maquinaria gen\u00e9tica que regula el ciclo circadiano.<br \/>\n3.3 Valorar el papel de Sainz se doctor\u00f3 por la Universidad de Oviedo. Fue becaria postdoctoral del IUOPA entre los a\u00f1os 2000-2001 y despu\u00e9s recibi\u00f3 una beca del programa Fulbright-MEC para realizar una estancia postdoctoral en Health Science Center de San Antonio, (TX, USA) entre los a\u00f1os 2001-2004. En el a\u00f1o, 2005 se reincorpor\u00f3 a la Universidad de Oviedo con un contrato del Programa Ram\u00f3n y Cajal hasta el a\u00f1o 2009 y desde el a\u00f1o 2010 es Profesora Titular de Universidad del \u00c1rea de Biolog\u00eda Celular.<\/p>\n<p>Desde entonces la Dra. Sainz se ha centrado en estudiar el papel de metabolismo redox y los mecanismos de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n implicados en la supervivencia celular, la adquisici\u00f3n de fenotipos de resistencia y en los mecanismos de diferenciaci\u00f3n celular de c\u00e9lulas tumorales. Estas l\u00edneas investigaci\u00f3n han sido financiadas por organismos p\u00fablicos de investigaci\u00f3n tanto regionales (Plan Regional de Investigaci\u00f3n), como nacionales (FIS-ISCIII, MINECO) o internacionales (JPI ERA-HLDL).<\/p>\n<p>Es autora de m\u00e1s de 90 publicaciones en revistas cient\u00edficas con m\u00e1s de 10.000 citas acumuladas en total. Adem\u00e1s, posee un \u00edndice H=43 y ocupa una posici\u00f3n destacada entre los cient\u00edficos espa\u00f1oles en el \u00e1rea de Endocrinolog\u00eda y Metabolismo.
