molecular mechanisms involved in acute lung injury and its repair, to identify new therapeutic alternatives. Pulmonary injury in critical oncological patient.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Patients with neoplasias are one of the main subgroups in the development of acute lung injury. What is more, its presence worsen the prognosis significantly when mechanical ventilation is required for the treatment of lung injury. Among oncological patients that required ICU treatments, patients with haematological neoplasias are the most gravity group.<\/p>\n<p>This research line tries to identify specific pathogenic mechanisms responsible for the injury of oncological patients subject to mechanical ventilation. He got the medical degree at Oviedo University, where he started his research activity. He made a fellowship in Intensive Medicine at Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias (Oviedo), where, in 2003, he started to work as attending physician. From 2015 he is the head of the Cardiac Critical Care Unit.<\/p>\n<p>He obtains his MSc degree in 2002. In addition, this year he made a short stay in the Centro de Cirug\u00eda Experimental del Hospital de Sabadell (Consorcio Hospitalario Parc Taul\u00ed). In Sabadell he collaborated with Dr. Lluis Blanch research group in several projects. In 2006 he obtained his PhD under the direction of Francisco Taboada. After that, he worked at the Biochemistry Department under Carlos L\u00f3pez Ot\u00edn supervision. In 2009 he set up his own laboratory at Functional Biology Department at Oviedo University. Since 2004 he is maintaining an uninterrupted funding with regional and national projects, which include collaborations with biomedical companies. Since 2009 is associated teacher and until now he has supervised 8 research projects and 3 PhD thesis. His curriculum vitae includes 44 scientific publications and the collaboration as speaker in national and international conferences.
