fusion-text-2\"><p><strong>Genomas del c\u00e1ncer<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Una de las l\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n aborda el estudio de los mecanismos moleculares implicados en la transformaci\u00f3n tumoral o el desarrollo de resistencias al tratamiento. Mediante la secuenciaci\u00f3n y an\u00e1lisis de genomas completos de muestras tumorales, as\u00ed como el desarrollo de herramientas bioinform\u00e1ticas, el grupo ha contribuido a definir las principales alteraciones gen\u00f3micas implicadas en el desarrollo de diferentes tipos de leucemias y linfomas. En la actualidad aplica t\u00e9cnicas de secuenciaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lula \u00fanica para conocer los mecanismos de comunicaci\u00f3n entre las c\u00e9lulas tumorales y las c\u00e9lulas del microambiente tumoral. En conjunto, estas aproximaciones han permitido identificar decenas de genes conductores del c\u00e1ncer, que junto al desarrollo de herramientas bioinform\u00e1ticas, permiten avanzar en la medicina de precisi\u00f3n gen\u00f3mica en oncolog\u00eda. Igualmente, se trabaja en la comprensi\u00f3n de los mecanismos por los que estos nuevos genes del c\u00e1ncer contribuyen a la transformaci\u00f3n tumoral mediante el desarrollo de nuevos modelos fusion-text-3\"><p><strong>Bases moleculares del envejecimiento:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El envejecimiento constituye el principal factor de riesgo para el desarrollo de c\u00e1ncer, por lo que el conocimiento de los mecanismos moleculares implicados en este proceso es de gran inter\u00e9s en el contexto de la oncolog\u00eda. Nuestro grupo ha venido caracterizando los mecanismos moleculares alterados durante el envejecimiento, as\u00ed como sus patolog\u00edas asociadas, prestando especial atenci\u00f3n a los aspectos relevantes en relaci\u00f3n a la biolog\u00eda del c\u00e1ncer. Mediante el desarrollo de modelos animales y celulares de envejecimiento acelerado, se han determinado las principales rutas bioqu\u00edmicas, metab\u00f3licas y moleculares alteradas en este proceso, y se han desarrollado terapias basadas en la edici\u00f3n g\u00e9nica, para el tratamiento de estas alteraciones. Puente es Catedr\u00e1tico y Director del Departamento de Bioqu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00eda Molecular en la Universidad de Oviedo. Doctorado en 1998, realiz\u00f3 un posdoctorado en The Scripps Research Institute (EE.UU.) sobre el papel de las proteasas en el c\u00e1ncer. Desde 2003 desarrolla una l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n en gen\u00f3mica comparada y bioinform\u00e1tica, participando en grandes consorcios internacionales de secuenciaci\u00f3n. Ha contribuido al desarrollo de herramientas para detectar mutaciones tumorales, revolucionando el conocimiento de la leucemia linf\u00e1tica cr\u00f3nica al identificar m\u00e1s de 60 genes conductores de esta patolog\u00eda. Algunas de estas mutaciones afectan a regiones no codificantes de prote\u00ednas pero con gran relevancia funcional, como en el gen NOTCH1 o el snRNA U1. Ha publicado m\u00e1s de 150 art\u00edculos en revistas como Nature, Nature Genetics y Leukemia.
