It takes place in a waste deposit located on top of Soterra\u00f1a mine and production plant. The affected total surface is 4000 m<sup>2<\/sup>, on a former waste deposit with approximately 13000 t of waste material from the former ore processing plant. It is thus waste from chemical preparation and processes to obtain arsenic and mercury, with high heavy metal content.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arsenic: 4.700 mg\/kg<\/li>\n<li>Mercury: 240 mg\/kg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"74cb536e4a0c6df57\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-1811-2\" data-target=\"#74cb536e4a0c6df57\" href=\"#74cb536e4a0c6df57\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">B2. This area corresponds to the most contaminated zone in <a href=\"\/SUBproducts4LIFE\/en\/escenarios-en\/la-soterrana\/\">Soterra\u00f1a<\/a> (and probably in the project) because it includes the remains of the old furnace and sludge settling pond from the production plant and from the process of obtaining arsenic and mercury. The presence of these polluted elements also contaminates rainwater and water flowing through it through the remaining materials.
