Research Unit of Biodiversity

The main scientific objective of the UMIB is to investigate how global change impacts biodiversity, the ecological and evolutionary processes at the base of its origin and the ecosystem services it provides. Our studies embrace evolutionary, biogeographic, ecological, modelling, functional, conservation, and socio- economic perspectives, as well as all levels of the biological organization, from genetic to ecosystem diversity, and both temporal and spatial scales, from geologic to current times or from continental to local extensions.
