Dr. Rosa M. Sainz leaders the group of Redox Biology of the University of Oviedo. She received her PhD passed «Cum Laude» and Awarded with Special Distinction in 1998. After her post-doctoral training in San Antonio Tx, at the Health Science Center, from 2001 to 2004, supported by a Fullbright scholarship, she joined the University of Oviedo supported by a Ramon y Cajal Grant. Since 2010, she is Associate Professor of Cellular Biology. Her group is interested in the role of oxidative species as signaling molecules. Her work is centered in understanding the ability of redox signaling to alter cellular fate. Also, her group studies the role of sugars in oxidative balance and in promoting cancer progression. Her investigation has been funded by several grants of the National Plan of Research (FISISCIII y MINECO), by the Regional Plan of Research and by H2020 (ERA-HDLD). Moreover, she actively collaborates national and international committees and journal editorial boards. She belongs to the Spanish Society for Cell Biology (SEBC) Council and Scientific Secretary of the Asturias Cancer Research Institute. She has published 84 peer-review articles, she has been cited around 10000 times and has Hirsch index of h=45 among the best in Endocrinology and Metabolism in Spain.
