Welcome

to the homepage of Laser and Plasma Spectroscopy Research Group of the University of Oviedo.

Our research focus is on the development of instrumentation and specific methodologies to analyze innovative materials:

  • Low pressure plasmas based on glow discharges are investigated for direct solid analysis with high sensitivity and nanometric depth resolution. Fundamental studies and applications are carried out using optical emission spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.
  • Atmospheric pressure glow discharge plasmas are evaluated as soft ionization sources for the direct analysis of materials, biological or environmental samples.
  • Laser induced plasmas are investigated for direct solid analysis with high sensitivity    and spatial resolution (including LA-ICP-MS, LIBS,...).
