Member<\/span><\/p>\n Severo Ochoa Programme<\/p>\n University of Oviedo<\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1611777334203{padding-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Gloria Garc\u00eda Pintueles<\/strong> is a PhD student in Gender Studies at the University of Oviedo, where she also teaches in the Department of English, French and German Philology. She holds a BA degree in Spanish Language and Literature anda BA in English Studies from the University of Oviedo, and an international MA degree in Women\u2019s and Gender Studies from Utrecht University and the University of Oviedo. Her PhD thesis, currently in progress under the supervision of Dr. Luz Mar Gonz\u00e1lez-Arias, focuses on representations of (ecological) loss, grief and mourning, as well as experiences of illness in contemporary fiction. Her research is grounded in feminist onto-epistemology, environmental and medical humanities, as well as in the expanding field of queer death studies. The overall aim of her PhD research is to closely analyse how the complexities, sensibilities and realities of illness and loss are being portrayed in contemporary female narratives, paying particular attentionto the connections between ecological and human degradation.<\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Prior to starting her PhD, she worked in the areas of cultural management and communication for institutions such as the Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Centre (Avil\u00e9s), Barjola Museum of Contemporary Art (Gij\u00f3n), Gij\u00f3n City Council Culture Department, and the Gij\u00f3n International Film Festival (FICX).
