Getting Gijón

Gijón, thanks to its location and its various communication routes, has a variety of transportation options.

By Plane

The nearest airport is the Asturias Airport (OVD), located about 40 km from Gijón. More information is available on the official AENA website.

From the airport, you can easily reach Gijón by direct bus operated by ALSA (approximately 1 hour) or by taxi (30–40 minutes).

By Train

The city of Gijón is connected by rail through the RENFE train station, with long-distance and high-speed rail services available. From Madrid, AVE and Alvia trains take approximately 3 h 45 min – 4 h.

By Coach

Gijón can be reached by long-distance coach services operated by ALSA and other companies. Frequent services connect Gijón with major Spanish cities. Participants travelling from Portugal may also find coach connections a convenient option, particularly from Porto and Lisbon, either directly or via connections through northern Spain. By Car

Gijón can be reached by road from different parts of Spain and Portugal through the main motorway network. Participants travelling from northern Portugal can reach Asturias via Galicia and the A-8 motorway, while those travelling from central Spain can access Gijón through the A-66 motorway.

Getting to the Conference Venue

The campus is situated approximately 4 km east of Gijón city centre and can be easily reached by public transport, taxi, bicycle, or car.

By Public Transport

The Gijón Campus is well connected to the city centre by public transport. For participants travelling from central Gijón, the most convenient bus routes are:

By Taxi

Gijón has an extensive network of cycling lanes, making the campus easily accessible by bicycle from most parts of the city.

By Car

The campus can be reached directly from the city centre in approximately 10 minutes. Parking facilities are available on and around the campus.
