Kindly words written by William Greene (New York University) for the “Report on Research Activity of the Oviedo Efficiency Group, 1998-2008” regarding the European workshops that took place in Oviedo.

I attended both EWEPA meetings in Oviedo, in 2001 and 2003. I gave the Keynote Address on using panel data in stochastic frontier modelling at 7EWEPA in 2001, the first of the two. The meetings in Oviedo were not the first stagings of this conference. However, they were larger than earlier European meetings, and set a new standard for the quality of the conference and the venues of the activities. The city of Oviedo was a delightful setting for the meetings. 7EWEPA and 8EWEPA attracted large gatherings of senior and junior researchers in the field, and were both great successes.
