Short bio
Fermín López holds an Inter-University Master degree in Economic Analysis from the Basque Country University, the University of Cantabria and the University of Oviedo, and a bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Oviedo. He has worked as research assistant in the international project “All rights reserved? Barriers towards European citizenship” (bEUcitizen) funded by the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission.
Currently, he is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology of the University of Oviedo. His thesis explores how the composition and dynamics of households affects labour participation of its members. He will investigate the different methodologies to measure labour participation of households from a sociological approach and he will study how these labour participation trends have changed for the Spanish case in the periods of crisis and recovery.
Before starting his PhD, he obtained a collaboration research grant of the Spanish Ministry of Education. This experience allowed him to collaborate with the EU-funded research project STYLE. In his master thesis, directed by Professors Begoña Cueto and Rodolfo Gutiérrez, he made a microeconomic assessment of the apprenticeship and training contract in Spain.
