He earned his PhD in Sociology from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, in coordination with the University of Oviedo (July 2017). His thesis examines the field of knowledge of the Sociology of Food and focused specifically on comparing the practices connected with \u201cfood outside the home\u201d in Brazil, Spain, and the United Kingdom.<br \/>\nHe collaborates in the Study and Research Group on Family Farming and Rural Development and, as part of this group, has participated in the organizing committees of the Third and Fourth Colloquiums on Family Farming (2011 and 2014), the Second International Seminar on Comparative Research on Rural Development in Brazil, China, and the European Union (2011), and the First Workshop on Food and Supply Strategies (2013).<br \/>\nOutside the academic field, he has worked at the Agricultural Research and Rural Extension Company in Santa Catarina (2007\u201312), and at the Secretariat of Rural Development, Fisheries, and Cooperativism of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (2011\u201314).<br \/>\nHe has taught two courses at the Universidade Aberta do Brasil: Planning and Management for Rural Development (2010\u201312) and Specialization in Sociology (2014).<br \/>\nHis main fields of study are Rural Development, Rural Economics, Economic Sociology, Sociology of Food, Markets and Public Policies.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Research Fields<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unioviedo.es\/socialimen\/en\/investigacion-2\/lineas-de-investigacion\/1-la-alimentacion-las-sociedades-modernas\/\"><span class=\"breadcrumb_last\">Food in modern societies<\/span><\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>Desarrollo Rural, Econom\u00eda Rural, Sociolog\u00eda Econ\u00f3mica, Sociolog\u00eda de la Alimentaci\u00f3n, Mercados y Pol\u00edticas P\u00fablicas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Projects<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Normatizar em nome de qual desenvolvimento?
