ADVANCES IN MOLECULAR ONCOLOGY
In the framework of the 25th anniversary of the University Institute of Oncology of the Principality of Asturias (IUOPA), we celebrate the IV Molecular Oncology Symposium, a key event that commemorates our trajectory of excellence in oncological research.
In recent years of the post-genomic era, the advances that have been generated in the knowledge of the basic biology of tumors and the genetic and epigenetic alterations they contain have allowed the development of targeted therapy to continue progressing continuously. Additionally, recent advances in immunotherapy have transformed the management and prognosis of numerous tumor types, and their relevance for the treatment of tumors with scarce therapeutical options is expected to grow in the coming years.
All these developments, together with the increasingly refined integration of multi-omics data, are driving forward precision medicine, opening new frontiers, and accelerating the translation of knowledge from the laboratory to the patient.
