Project PHYSALIA revolves about a simple research question: has the body plan of the Man’o’War evolved to optimize navigation within prevailing ocean winds and currents? If this is true, what is the scale of this process? Do they respond to global (Trades, Westerlies, large subtropical Gyres) or local ocean structures (slicks, fronts)?
