The conference will be held at the Gijón/Xixón campus of the University of Oviedo, in the premises of the Polytechnic School (Edificio Polivalente EPI).

The city

Gijón/Xixón is located in the centre of the Asturias coast, in south-western Europe, facing the Cantabrian Sea (Bay of Biscay). It is the most populated city in Asturias with a population of 280,000. It is also one of the safest cities in Spain, which is itself one of the safest countries in Europe.

The local climate is oceanic temperate, mild and humid, with an average annual temperature of 15º and gentle oscillations between the annual maxima and minima. In September, the average temperature is 18ºC, with an average maximum of 22ºC and a minimum of 14ºC. Annual rainfall varies between 800 and 1000 mm, and it is distributed evenly, without very dry periods or heavy rain episodes. You should bring informal and warm clothes and footwear.

The time zone will be Central European summer time (GMT+2). Electrical current is 230 V – 50 Hz, with type C plugs (two round jacks). The official currency in Spain is the Euro. The greater part of banks offer currency exchange services, and the majority of establishments admit payment with Visa and Mastercard credit cards.
