Mafalda Costa is an Invited Auxiliary Researcher at HERCULES Laboratory (University of Évora) and a «La Caixa» Foundation Postdoctoral Junior Leader Fellow. She holds a joint-degree PhD in Archaeology and Earth and Space Sciences in the Ghent University (Belgium) and the University of Évora (Portugal), respectively. Mafalda’s knowledge in a wide range of analytical techniques – XRF, SEM-EDS, micro-Raman spectroscopy, XRD and LA-ICP-MS – has enabled the determination of composition, provenance and manufacturing technology of historical artifacts and painting materials.
