Aitor Ruiz Rodríguez
I am a Physics graduate with a Master’s Degree in Photonics from the University of Valencia, where I explored the application of physics to medicine through my Master’s Thesis on the simulation of non-standard radioisotopes in preclinical PET scanners. This path has strengthened my interest in developing innovative plasma-based analytical methods to address environmental and biomedical challenges. Currently, I am a researcher at the University of Oviedo, working in the GELP group on the development of analytical techniques using atmospheric pressure glow discharges for elemental monitoring of contaminants in water systems.

Dr. Cristina Méndez-López
I’m a Physics Graduate with a Master’s Degree in Analytical and Bioanalytical Sciences at the University of Oviedo. My PhD Thesis was devoted to the development of a fs/ns double-pulse LIBS system and to both fundamental studies and analytical applications of ns-laser-induced plasmas subjected to wet nebulization. My work was supported first by a University of Oviedo grant (PAPI-20-PF-03) and afterwards, by a Severo Ochoa Grant (BP20-059, Principality of Asturias). Currently a postdoc at GELP.

Adnan Parwez
Adnan Parwez completed his Bachelor’s degree in physics and a Master’s degree in Electronics in India. He then moved to Europe to pursue an Erasmus Mundus Master’s program in Microwave and Photonics Engineering, during which he studied in France, Italy, and Spain. As part of his Master’s thesis, he completed an industrial internship at ASENSE (formerly ASE Optics Europe) in Barcelona, where he worked on “tolerance analysis and optical performance evaluation of a high-precision optical system”. After completing his studies, he joined Universidad Carlos III de Madrid as a Research and Teaching Assistant. He later moved to Valencia to work on Photonics Chip Design. Currently, he is a researcher at the University of Oviedo. His research focuses on the development and evaluation of robust femtosecond Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (fs-LIBS) system for metal analysis.
