Cristina Méndez has received an award for her oral presentation at Open Readings 2021!

Cristina Méndez, one of GELP’s PhD students, has received an award for her Oral presentation «Effects of nebulized calcium nitrite concentration on a laser-induced plasma emission and parameters» at the 64th International Conference for Students of Physics and Natural Sciences (Open Readings 2021) that was held online during March 16-19. Jonatan Fandiño has succesfully defended his PhD Thesis

Dr. Jonatan Fandiño has successfully defended his PhD Thesis, «New instrumentation based on atmospheric pressure and low pressure plasmas with detection by optical and mass spectrometry: application to direct analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)». Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, his dissertation took place remotely, following the University’s guidelines. Congratulations!!! Congratulations Dr. Fandiño!  

Dr. César Álvarez-Llamas has been selected as an Outstanding Reviewer by JAAS editorial team!

Former GELP member César Álvarez-Llamas has been recognized by the editorial team of the Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry (JAAS) as an Outstanding Reviewer for the journal in 2018. Álvarez-Llamas is currently part of ICB Laboratory. Congratulations César!

Gijón (Spain) will be hosting the 11th EMSLIBS and 42nd CSI!

Prof. Nerea Bordel successfully defended Spain’s application to host the 11th Euro-Mediterranean Symposium on Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (EMSLIBS) alongside Prof. José Miguel Vadillo (UMA). As a result, the 11th EMSLIBS will be held in parallel with the Colloquium Spectroscopicum Internationale XLII (CSI) in Gijón (Spain) in 2021, with GELP as one of the organizers. IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the original date of the Symposium had to be delayed and, unfortunately, it won’t be held together with the CSI XLII. 11th EMSLIBS will take place from November 29 to December 2. Luis Fernández has been awarded by the XXXVII Biannual Meeting of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics (PhD researchers category)

Luis Fernández from the Laser and Plasma Spectroscopy Group has been awarded by the XXXVII Biannual Meeting of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics. This award is given to the best original research work developed during the PhD studies. Luis will present this work in an oral lecture at the XXXVII Biannual Meeting of Spanish Royal Society of Physics, which will be held in Zaragoza (Spain) from 15th to 19th (July 2019) Congratulations Luis!
