Giulia Terlecki’s short-stay at GELP Group

Giulia has joined our research group for the weeks to work on LA-ICP-MS!!

Giulia Terlecki is a PhD candidate in Biological Oceanography at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG, Brazil), where she investigates trophic and population structure of fish, with a focus on stock definition. She has previous experience with population structure using genetic approaches and is currently working to understand the ecology, ontogenetic movements and individual specialization of Prionace glauca and Isurus oxyrinchus through isotopic and microchemical analyses of vertebrae. This stage of the study is being developed in collaboration with the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere – IPMA and the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research – CIIMAR (Portugal), the AZTI technological centre and the University of Oviedo (Spain). At the University of Oviedo, she performs microchemical analyses using LA-ICP-MS in collaboration with GELP team.
