GELP researchers have been awarded a patent

GELP researchers in collaboration with former GELP member Dr. Álvarez-Llamas have been awarded a Spanish patent ES2958384 entitled Método para la identificación y determinación de halógenos en muestras liquidas mediante espectroscopia de ruptura inducida por laser asistida por nebulización (Method for the identification and determination of halogens in liquid samples through nebulization-assisted laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy). The patented methodology allows for the qualitative and quantitative study of halogens in liquid samples by means of nebulization of the liquid on an alkali-earth-containing solid substrate. The deposited liquid is ablated with a fraction of the solid target, and the presence of halogens is…

Cristian has been awarded a SEA grant to participate in RNE XXVIII!

Cristian Soto is delighted to acknowledge financial support that he has been awarded by the Spanish Society of Applied Spectroscopy in order to attend the Reunión Nacional de Espectroscopía in Granada. It will take place on June 26-28 and Cristian will present his work entitled «Femtosecond Laser Ablation-ICP-TOFMS for minimal destructive multielemental analysis of gemstones». Congratulations, Cristian!!

Cristian Soto has published a first-author paper in Applied Surface Science!

Our PhD student Cristian Soto-Gancedo has published his first «first-author» paper entitled «Evaluation of Ultraviolet-Femtosecond-Laser Ablation-ICP-TOFMS for fast, sensitive and high-spatially resolved multi-elemental mapping of laser-deposited Hastelloy coated carbon steel» in Applied Surface Science. Congratulations Cristian!!

GELP participation in the XXIII Week of Science and Innovation at University of Oviedo

GELP is participating in the XXIII Week of Science and Innovation at University of Oviedo: Presentation about the use of laser ablation based spectroscopy techniques and its application of the multielemental mapping of tissues from cancer patients. (We even have the local television from Asturias reporting this event). Hosting a visit from High School Bernaldo de Quiros in our labs in Mieres (We believe that they really enjoyed the visit)

We are hiring! We offer a postdoc position to join our research project: «Development of a spectroscopy-based portable and automatized device for pollutant wastewater discharges control (QWATER)» (Desarrollo de un equipo portable y automatizado, basado en técnicas de espectroscopía, para el control de vertidos contaminantes en aguas residuales (QWATER)) Candidates can apply for this position until April 20th 2023 through this link, where you can also see the details of the contract.
