Short Bio
Roberto Giosa holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Oviedo and his work focuses on studying the general practitioners’ management of patients with mental disorders using Street-level Bureaucracy theory as an analytical framework. In his doctoral dissertation, titled «Access to mental health and the primary care: management and handling strategies in Spain and Italy», he highlights the significant discretionary power that GPs exercise in their daily practice, directly impacting the implementation of the healthcare systems’ universality at the street-level.
Before working in the field of sociology, he obtained a qualification as a clinical psychologist from the Italian Ministry of Health and another as a general health psychologist from its Spanish equivalent. Currently, Roberto also works as a research support technician on the project Multisite Smartphone-based Ecological Momentary Intervention for Suicide Prevention (HR23-00421).
