Publication by Funcas of the book “Educación financiera en la Educación Secundaria Obligatoria”

The book “Educación Secundaria Obligatoria: impacto de la normativa, los programas de educación financiera y desigualdades territoriales”, co-authored by several members of the Group, has been published today, 3 October, during Financial Education Week. The book presents the main results of a project funded by Funcas in the 2021 call of the programme aimed at promoting research in financial education. Our gratitude to Funcas for the opportunity it gave us to carry out a research project on a fundamental topic, financial education.

The studies focus on pre-university students, more specifically those aged between 15 and 16. The data collected on the financial literacy of students aged 15 and 16 in compulsory education collected by the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), an initiative of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) since 2012 (with subsequent editions in 2015 and 2018) allow us to study aspects that have not been analysed so far in relation to financial education in Spain. Among them, the impact on the financial education of young Spaniards of both the regulations that introduced, for the first time in Spain, the teaching of content related to financial skills in pre-university education, and financial education initiatives developed within the framework of the Financial Education Plan of the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the Bank of Spain and the recently incorporated Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation.
