FinEduca360: Youth for Youth

“FinEduca360: Youth for Youth” is an educational innovation and financial literacy outreach project led by the Finance and Corporate Governance Research Group at the University of Oviedo. Its aim is to train university students to design and deliver workshops and talks on personal finance in schools across Asturias, promoting financial education through a close, collaborative methodology focused on social impact.

The project is structured in two phases. First, university students receive training in financial education through sessions delivered by professionals, institutions and academic staff. Subsequently, the students deliver talks in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training centres, transferring the knowledge acquired and helping to raise awareness of the importance of personal financial planning.

“FinEduca360: Youth for Youth” began in the 2023-2024 academic year as a project funded by the Institute for Educational Research and Innovation (INIE) of the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching Staff Policies at the University of Oviedo. Since then, the programme has grown in terms of the number of participants, schools involved and its overall social impact.

To date, two full editions of the project have been implemented:

  • 1st edition (2023-2024 academic year): 14 student participants, 10 talks in 9 educational centres, reaching 161 students in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training.
  • 2nd edition (2024-2025 academic year): 19 student participants, 29 talks in 22 educational centres, reaching 680 students in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training.

During this time, the project has brought financial education to classrooms across Asturias, enabling university students to return to their former schools or visit other centres in the region, becoming active agents of financial literacy outreach.

In the 2025-2026 academic year, the 3rd edition of the programme is being implemented, now also supported by Caja Rural de Asturias, consolidating “FinEduca360: Youth for Youth” as a reference initiative in financial education and in the transfer of university knowledge to society.
