The Group of Tecnology of Bioprocesss and Reactors (TBR) of the University of Oviedo started its activity in 1986, focusing mainly on four research lines:
A- Bioeconomy resources: Biomass benefit, and revalorization of wastes.
B- Water treatment and management: Contaminants removal, and sludge and wáter management
C- Food and fermentation: New food products and technology, products obtentions by fermentation (and hydrolysis)
D- Materials: Preparation and application of new materials
Mission and View of the Group
The Mission is to effectively integrate learning, research and engagement, generating scientific and technological knowledge useful for a sustainable development of society, reinforcing education-society ties to enhance research efficiency; maximizing the proficiency of adding value to research products and developing highly skilled scientists and engineers in processes and bioprocesses
The View is.
- To generate the knowledge basis on enginering processes and bioprocesses through applied Research, compressing training, innovation and technology transfer
- To use this knowledge to generate innovations in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Technology and Bioprocesses
- To confer the postgraduate and PhD students with the knowledge and skills to pursue a successful career in academia, industry or society
Scientific background
In the last years (2014-2019), its scientific background can be summarized in more than 100 JCR publications, 8 presented Doctoral Thesis and 10 currently guided Doctoral Thesis, 22 contracts with companies, and more than a hundred presentations at international congresses. Since 2014 it is recognised as a Competitive Reference Group.
