The Group

The Group of Tecnology of Bioprocesss and Reactors  (TBR) of the University of Oviedo started its activity in 1986, focusing mainly on four research lines:

A- Bioeconomy resources: Biomass benefit, and revalorization of wastes.

B- Water treatment and management: Contaminants removal, and sludge and wáter management

C- Food and fermentation: New food products and technology, products obtentions by fermentation (and hydrolysis)

D- Materials: Preparation and application of new materials

Mission and View of the Group

The Mission is to effectively integrate learning, research and engagement, generating scientific and technological knowledge useful for a sustainable development of society, reinforcing education-society ties to enhance research efficiency; maximizing  the proficiency of adding value to research products and developing  highly skilled scientists and engineers in processes and bioprocesses

The View is.

  • To generate the knowledge basis on enginering processes and bioprocesses through applied Research, compressing training, innovation and technology transfer
  • To use this knowledge to generate innovations in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Technology and Bioprocesses
  • To confer the postgraduate and PhD students with the knowledge and skills to pursue a successful career in academia, industry or society

Scientific background

In the last years (2014-2019), its scientific background can be summarized in more than 100 JCR publications, 8 presented Doctoral Thesis and 10 currently guided Doctoral Thesis, 22 contracts with companies, and more than a hundred presentations at international congresses. Since 2014 it is recognised as a Competitive Reference Group.
