Maycon Noremberg Schubert is an Agricultural Engineer and has a Master’s degree in Rural Development from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2012). He earned his PhD in Sociology from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, in coordination with the University of Oviedo (July 2017). His thesis examines the field of knowledge of the Sociology of Food and focused specifically on comparing the practices connected with “food outside the home” in Brazil, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
He collaborates in the Study and Research Group on Family Farming and Rural Development and, as part of this group, has participated in the organizing committees of the Third and Fourth Colloquiums on Family Farming (2011 and 2014), the Second International Seminar on Comparative Research on Rural Development in Brazil, China, and the European Union (2011), and the First Workshop on Food and Supply Strategies (2013).
Outside the academic field, he has worked at the Agricultural Research and Rural Extension Company in Santa Catarina (2007–12), and at the Secretariat of Rural Development, Fisheries, and Cooperativism of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (2011–14).
He has taught two courses at the Universidade Aberta do Brasil: Planning and Management for Rural Development (2010–12) and Specialization in Sociology (2014).
His main fields of study are Rural Development, Rural Economics, Economic Sociology, Sociology of Food, Markets and Public Policies.
