Sonia Otero Estévez has a degree in Social Work from the University of Oviedo (2014). She has specialized in social intervention with vulnerable groups during the Master’s course in Social Policies and Welfare at the University of Oviedo’s Department of Sociology (2015). She is currently a PhD student in Economics and Business in the area of socio-economic analysis with the thesis project “Alimentación y pobreza: estragias de aprovisionamiento y gestión de la privación” (“Food and poverty: supply strategies and managing deprivation”), with Cecilia Díaz Méndez and Isabel García Espejo as her supervisors.
She has carried out a study, financed by the Asturias Red Cross, on the eating habits of low-income households that receive food and social aid, the results of which were published by the Economic and Social Council of Asturias. The Council has also recently given her an award for her academic record in the Master’s Degree in Social Policies and Welfare.
