During the University of Oviedo’s Week at the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard, the Sociology of Food Research Group, led by Cecilia Díaz-Méndez and Nuria Hernández Nanclares, has made relevant contacts in two fields of work.
Within the scope of its current research, the group met with Professor Andrea Wright, from the Department of Anthropology, an expert on migration and gender, as well as with Caitlin Daniel, from Harvard’s Department of Sociology, who specialises in health inequalities and the sociology of food. These interactions have established valuable connections to advance the understanding of sociological dynamics related to food.
In addition, the Sociology of Food Research Group closed its participation at Harvard with significant meetings regarding the development of the Master’s degree in Food, Consumption and Health. Meetings were held with Nick Wilson, director of the Harvard Initiative for Learning and Teaching, and with Tamara Brenner and Alexandra Sedlovskaya, directors of the Bok Center and the Christensen Center respectively.
