The group of students of the subject Sociology of Leisure and Tourism, from the Degree in Tourism at the University of Oviedo, has won second prize in the national podcast competition organised by Radio Television of the Principality of Asturias (RTPA).
The collaborative podcast, entitled ‘The two faces of tourism’, critically addresses the challenges of contemporary tourism, covering topics such as the relevance of the contents of the degree, the difficulties for graduates to find employment in the sector, and the need for a more responsible, inclusive and sustainable tourism model.
The project, part of the teaching innovation project entitled: From ‘knowing’ to ‘knowing how to be’: the Fanzine and the Podcast as tools for learning and collaborative reflection on social challenges from the professionalisation of the academic degree (File no. 124568), is coordinated by Rocío Pérez and Ángel Alonso, teachers of the subject ‘Sociology of leisure and tourism’. The podcast relates the different knowledge addressed during the degree with current social realities, consolidating the link between academic teaching and the practice of tourism professionals in our societies.
